Nice day out in Manchester and a chance to see the city Art gallery again. Interesting to see the "To be Human" exhibition showing images that captured not just the image of the sitter but also the personality. Interesting to compare these with these more modern images, with the ones in the Victorian gallery such as in my last photograph.

Had a nice walk from #Monton to #Worsley yesterday. Brought back memories of when we ran the Lantern gallery ( the building on the right in the first picture). Four other artists and myself ran the gallery for a year before the landlord doubled the rent and we had to give it up. Sadly the photography studio and gallery downstairs has gone as well and it just seems to be a house now. Good times.
A sunny day for a change and a chance for another visit . Always enjoy going to artist's studio open days. A chance to see the work being done in a different area. Interesting several artists painting local scenes often the dark, moody moorlands nearby. A walk around the mill and a good turnout by the public. Time for a coffee before enjoying a walk in the local countryside. Also a chance to collect some resource material for future paintings.
A nice walk down into Eccles to see the new exhibition and a chat with two of the artists Tony Easom and Janet Downs. Always interesting to see the work of up and coming local artists in this friendly gallery. Worth a look to see Tony's paintings of boats and Janet's portraits.
A bust few hours painting a new oil painting. I liked the way the water flowed down the image and the colours. Started by adding a range of light tones before mid tones. Finished by adding darks etc. until canvas was covered. Finally adding the water and adjusting certain areas.
Good to get back to painting. With organising the exhibition ready for May I have been busy. Decided to do another landscape and liked an image from a recent visit to the sculpture park.
Started by putting in some lights before adding darks to get a feeling for the scene. Next added some mid tones for the greenery and worked on the path. Finally bringing it all together. Interesting night at the art gallery. As well as getting a chance to do some #painting at the art club I wandered into the new #exhibition preview on the night. I was pleased to see the invite from my 1986 exhibition prominently displayed as part of the exhibition. Brought back lots of memories.
