Day out at Cheshire show. Amazing what these people can do with a chainsaw. One of the highlights at the Cheshire Show is the Eleventh English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition. Talented chainsaw artists from around the globe converge in one of our fields and spend the three days creating masterpieces from logs of wood. Reminds me a little of seeing Marble sculptures in Florence. The idea that a sculpture can look at a piece of marble a nd see a shape in it. Then proceed to remove waste until the shape is revealed.

A digital drawing using Sketchbook pro. Done with a stylus on a Note 10.1. i'm always fascinated by local people and like to capture them at ease.
Went for a walk and was struck by the large puddle and dappled light on the path. Painted warm oranges and reds before adding greens and blues. Final picture in Landscapes page.
An enjoyable weekend in London. Got a chance to visit the V & A museum. Some superb work by Constable. Interesting to see his large preliminary paintings for some of his great works. Also a beautiful courtyard for a drink and rest on a sunny day.
New painting based on a view in Chester. I was struck by the colours of the scene and had to record it. Slowly built up using a palette knife trying ti work on the whole area before concentrating on sections.
A busy days painting. I used a limited palette contrasting warm reds and purples with cooler greens and blues. I wanted to capture the shadows and light areas on the path. Final picture is in Landscapes.
New painting took about for hours. Decided to put some lights in first. Then the browns. oranges and greens. Then the blues before adding final touches. Final picture in Landscapes.
