Enjoyed a recent holiday cruising several Caribbean Islands. Also took the opportunity to go into local art galleries. It's always exciting to see local art. In this instance the bright colours stood out at times. Also interesting to see the choice of subject matter.

Started two new paintings for a commission today and worked on this one of "est est est" at the Trafford centre. Started with a dark background first and added some blues for the ceiling a few weeks ago. When this was dry I drew the image using a wax crayon. I then worked down the painting adding the colours. I will leave it now for a couple of weeks then go back to it with fresh eyes, as they say.
Inspired by your painting "Old Bridge Cricket wood" The Cricket Bridge How many crossed this cricked bridge Minds opened, flowing, caressed by nature Deep in thought yet alert to witness Each step a building bloc of stature Even now as natures fallen weakens We recall as if just recent past And day by day our time it quickens Until recap will be our last! Yet more will come and will ponder New minds to feast on sights of Spring Revisit paths a long time trodden And hear again the songbirds sing! by Finbarr Harkin There's always nice suprises around the corner when you least expect them. We wonder about facebook at times. Finbarr saw my work and liked it and then sent me this fabulous poem based on this painting. A great honour.
Some quick 10-15 minutes sketches from a recent Thomson cruise to the Caribbean. Great weather and fantastic experiences. Good to get the sketchbook out again just need more practice!
A visit to an exhibition at the Cornerstone featuring two of Salford's up and coming local artist's, Tony Easom and Broady, showing many local scenes. A must visit for local people supporting them and a local charity.
