After last weeks bright picture I decided to use one of my studies from last October to do a slightly darker toned painting. This was from a walk around a local park. The pond, in Light Oaks park, is well known for somewhere to feed the ducks.
I started by adding the lights before adding some darks to give me a structure to the painting.
Next I started blocking in areas making sure to work on the whole canvas at times to give the work unity.
After finishing the top section I turned the painting upside down to add paint to the water. This allowed me better freedom and a chance to view the painting from another angle.
Finally turning it the correct way up, finishing the bottom section and then standing back to see what adjustments were needed.
